Doctrine and Practice

This site helps believers from New Testament patterned assemblies find similar local churches when they travel or relocate. (Do not confuse our use of the term "assembly" with the Assemblies of God or other denominations.) Assembly is at times used as a more accurate translation of the New Testament Gr. word ekklesia, since it communicates the assembling or gathering of believers from the surrounding world more effectively than the english word church does.

If you visit you may notice: Each of the local churches on this map is autonomous and non-denominational. Like believers, they differ slightly in what they emphasize but have many core convictions that they share. Many of the local church (not all) share a loose connection with a historical movement known as the Brethren Movement (one of the earliest non-denominational movements, and a what some have called the second reformation as it involved a full departure from the vestigal clergy-laity system of post Reformation protestantism to a full blown priesthood-of-all-believers.

Bibletruth.net

We would like to express our appreciation for Bob Shevlin (Brooksville, FL) and the believers that have worked on bibletruth.net. Bible Truth was really the first comprehensive listing of assemblies internationally that I ever came across. It was up and running since 1997. In 2011 Bob pointed all of his entries on Bibletruth.net over to assemblymap.com. If you have some time hop on over to bibletruth.net and check out some of the other links on the site. Few people realize how many hours of painstaking work that went into sites like bibletruth.net to make practical online tools available to believers. Before the web was even availbe to public, Bob Shevlin was creating ways to connect believers with computers, even though combining computers and spiritual things was viewed by many with suspicion at the time. Over the last few years Bibletruth.net was also maintained with the help of Keith Vanryn, Angel Rivas, and Henry Lair.
